Ultimate voyage to Normandy M/S Alpo brand partnership
M/S Alpo is a tugboat that was built in the United States in 1943 for the Normandy landings. After surviving there unharmed, the tugboat came to Finland to participate in post-war mine clearance operations in the Gulf of Finland. In 1952, the tugboat moved to Oulu and served as a harbor tug in Toppilansalmi.
Alpo participated in the Normandy battle on June 6, 1944, and in the 60th-anniversary celebrations in 2004. Now, Alpo has been restored to its former glory to be ready for the D-Day trip starting from its current home port of Oulu on April 27, 2024. Alpo will arrive in Le Havre (France) by June 5th.
